What is the Nevada Mathematics Summit?

In 2017, the SNMC took on a new and bold approach to professional development and conferences.  Instead of the standard general session conference design the SNMC Conference Leadership moved to a strand-based session model.  This model offered a strand for every level from K to 8, and then in High School the strands of Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II.  Teachers chose the strand that best suited their teaching assignment and then for the entire conference they stayed within the offerings of that strand to gain meaningful training.
This design was a BIG HIT.  Grades K to 8 each had 30 seats each and in the High School Strands 60 seats were available for each class strand.  To our surprise EVERY SEAT WAS TAKEN!!
400+ teachers attended!!
The Goals of the Nevada Mathematics Summit are:
  • to deliver meaningful professional development to the Nevada Mathematics Teachers
  • to build a mathematics network and community with support.
  • to offer PDE credit (Nevada Certification Credit) to help with re-certification.
