DOUG SPECK (Team Lead)

I have been an educator for 33 years. 23 of these years I taught High School Math and 10 of them I was a Director of Math. I have taught courses from Pre-Algebra through Calculus. I am looking forward to the Summit and the collection of awesome educators that will be assembled for it.

JULIE MESERVEY

I have been a teacher for 21 years. I am currently teaching Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus Honors at Arbor View HS. I love experiencing foreign cultures, and I loved my trip to Japan this summer with my family. At school, I really enjoy the interactions I have with my students. Helping students to understand math is very rewarding!

TRAVIS OLSON

I have been a faculty member in mathematics education at UNLV since 2009. I have worked with teachers and students at various levels, from elementary and middle school, to high school and college-level. I love the ways in which we can use mathematical structures to understand other structures within mathematics, as well as our world and society.

SARAH CUELLAR

I have taught for 22 years, with 21 at Bonanza HS. I have taught every type of high school math except Calculus, but my love will always be Trig/Stats. I currently enjoy those units while teaching Algebra II and Precalculus. I am looking forward to what the Summit has to offer all of us and am excited to be a part of it.

After moving to USA in 2002, I taught at Explore Knowledge Academy, a project based charter school in Las Vegas for four years. My teaching career then took me to Legacy High School and then to my current station, A-TECH where I have been teaching Algebra II and Geometry since 2009.  In addition to being a teacher, I am also a nationally licensed School Psychologist.

KARL SPENDLOVE

After 48 years in front of a classroom, it's time to figure out what I want to do for a living. I've taught every grade at one point or another. I've taught undergraduate and graduate mathematics and computer education. I've been a college dean and now I'm trying to redesign college readiness and transition to college mathematics at UNLV.

I have been involved in mathematics education for many years. I taught at Western, Cheyenne , and ATECH. I worked for five years as an administrator at Mojave, Bonanza, and Boulder City High School. I now work with SNRPDP in secondary math. Any opportunity, such as the Summit, for teachers to expand their skills is a good thing.

JENNIFER MANNING

I've taught everything from Pre-Algebra to Calculus over the last 11 years in CCSD. Algebra 2 is my FAVORITE! Algebra 2 is where the students get to really stretch their understanding of math. I often say to my students, “You may never use (insert topic here) again after high school but you will use the thought processes for the rest of your life.”
