Southern Nevada Mathematics Council
NV MATH SUMMIT GEOMETRY TEAM (9)
CINDY ORTIZ (Team Lead)
After spending 20+ years in the classroom, in my home state of Florida and in my adopted state of Nevada, I am starting my 6th year as a Secondary Math Trainer for SNRPDP. Although I have taught multiple levels of mathematics, my favorite class has always been Geometry. I am honored to be part of this awesome new experience! SUMMIT ON!!

ERIN SHEPPARD
I have been teaching for 8 years - 3 years in private schools, and 4 years in CCSD. During that time, I have taught Geometry, Math Apps, and Algebra 1, in addition to Physics. I fell in love with Geometry by learning origami, which was popular in my home town growing up. I'm excited to share my "tricks of the trade" with everyone at the Summit!
JEFF COMER
I have been teaching math for 16 years. I am married with 4 children and recently just bought our first house. I’ve been teaching at Desert Oasis since the school opened. I thoroughly enjoy teaching with the people at DO, we are like a family. I recently started teaching Calculus AB and BC. I love the challenge of teaching higher level math.

HEATHER STRAMPEL
I have been teaching in some capacity for the last 25 years. My goal for this summit and for my teaching career as a whole is to promote increased matheracy in the general population, because a math literate population is able to creatively solve the tough social problems of today and in the future. Plus being a math ninja, it is what I do.

REBECCA GLASER
I have been teaching in CCSD for 24 years. This includes high school level and middle school level. I also do part time teaching for the College of Southern Nevada in the evenings---because with three teenage kids, a husband, and a full time job, I'm not already busy enough. =D I love math, and I love teaching math. It's why I'm here.
DAN ANDREWS
I have been teaching mathematics for almost two decades and also worked in the aerospace program for the same length of time. I have taught all levels of mathematics from AP Calculus to Algebra. Each unique facet of mathematics illuminates a different perspective of the entirety of the subject.
PATRICE CARDER
I am in my 28th year of teaching all in Clark County School District. I began teaching in the middle school then moved to high school at Durango and currently at Silverado. I teach math to empower students to become problem solvers. From basic math to college prep math, I have taught students to be successful in mathematics.
KRISTEN TAYLOR
I have been teaching for 21 years – 5 in Virginia and 16 with CCSD. I have taught just about every level of high school math but have found my niche at A-TECH with Geometry Honors and AP Calculus AB. I am excited for the Summit…even after many years of teaching, I believe there is still so much to learn from each other.
SARA MILES
I am a native Texan who graduated with a Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on math and chemistry from Lubbock Christian University. My first 5 years of teaching were around my home town. I moved to Vegas in 2002 and worked at Bonanza high school for 7 years before transferring to Desert Oasis High School. I have been there ever since. I have taught geometry every year of my teaching career, and have really come to love the subject. I received my Masters of Educational Leadership from Touro University in 2010, but am not ready to leave the classroom.
